Sascha was raised in Portland, Oregon. She comes from a family of professional artists, musicians, and creative entrepreneurs. Sascha traveled and independently studied art through seven countries in Europe from 1992-93. She attended Antioch College in Ohio and then transferred and graduated from Marylhurst University with a degree in Fine Art.
Sascha has a Master's in Teaching and has taught art at multiple public, private, and charter schools since 1997 as well as founding her own art school, Fine Art Starts in 1997. She was the Director of all public and private cultural and educational programs at the prestigious Carnegie Center in Oregon City and also served on the Board for the Oregon Art Education Association. Sascha's personal artwork is found in private and University collections mostly on the West Coast. Sascha consults with, teaches at, and assists schools in developing fine art programs. She currently teaches visual art full time at Jesuit High School, for Fine Art Starts online programs, and is a adjunct Art Pedagogy Professor for George Fox University. In 2020 Sascha was one of three nominees for the Educator of the Year Award through the Oregon Art Education Association. She has inspired and taught many awarded and scholarship-winning students, many of whom have gone on to pursue careers in graphic design, animation, and fashion/product design at reputable schools such as the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA, Pratt in NYC, RISD (Rhode Island School of Design), Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and Pacific NW College of Art. In her free time Sascha loves spending time with her sweetheart and their five children, ages 7, 9, 12, 19 and 21. Oh! And Kevin the cat, too... |
Why name it Floppy Cat Studio?Kevin Kangaroo came to live with Sascha when he was just a mini 5-week old kitten in 2020. He's a flopster! Always laying with his back legs behind him, he is a furry love ball. The pic above shows him on Sascha's shoulder when he was just a tiny guy.
